Dancing Racket: The Story and Goals of Badminton Player Bahar Sabanci

Bahar Sabancı, a national athlete who left her mark on the badminton scene, started her career under the guidance of Hakan Avcı. In addition to being left-handed, jumping rope, which she saw as an important step to improve her fitness, became one of the important elements in Bahar’s performance. Sabancı, who says, “I tried every sport, but I couldn’t give up badminton,” represents her country in the international arena by studying in Northern Cyprus with a 100% scholarship.

Career Full of Success

Bahar Sabancı continues the training she received from Hakan Avcı with Nevzad Denerel in Northern Cyprus. Denerel says that they are trying to meet Bahar’s needs despite the difficulties in finding a training hall. Sabancı made a name for herself with her victory at the Balkan Championships and last year she made it to the top 8 at the European Championships.

Future Goals and Challenging Program

Bahar Sabancı qualified for the Olympic Camp on March 1, an important milestone in her career. Sabancı, who will take part in the European Championships if she is successful in the auditions to be held after the camp, will compete in the Turkish Speaking Countries Championships to be held in Bursa immediately afterwards. She trains 7 hours a day, including the summer months, but is currently struggling with a minor injury as a result of her busy schedule.

Being a Psychology Student and Athlete

Bahar Sabancı is not only a successful student in sports, but also a successful student studying psychology at BAU. Sabancı emphasized the importance of psychology in sports and shared her goal of becoming a Sports Psychologist in the future. Sabancı, who played an aggressive game when she was young, stated that she now plays badminton like dancing. He added that when he enters the court, he feels “like he is in a glass lantern” and he only hears the tactics.

Bahar Sabancı and her coach Nevzat Demirel’s common goal is to inspire young people playing badminton in Northern Cyprus and to train potential Olympic athletes for the future. Sabancı aims to shed light on badminton generations.
